作者简介：
卡尔·斯坦尼兹（Carl Steinitz）/1966年起，在哈佛大学设计学院与麻省理工学院联合建立的计算机图形与空间分析实验室担任研究员。/1967年，在麻省理工学院获得城市与区域规划博士学位，专业方向为城市设计，师从凯文·林奇（Kevin Lynch）/1973年在哈佛大学设计学院任景观设计与规划教授/1986年被授予景观设计与规划亚历山大与维多利亚·维利荣誉终身教职/1984年，获美国景观设计教育委员会（Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture）授予“杰出教育者奖”。1996年，获国际景观生态学会颁发的“杰出实践奖”。
